Vinesh Phogat receives grand welcome at Delhi Airport after returning from Paris

New Delhi, August 17: Despite not winning a medal at the Paris Olympics due to being overweight, even after reaching the final in the women’s 50kg category, India’s star wrestler Vinesh Phogat received a grand welcome upon her arrival at Indira Gandhi International Airport on Saturday. The warm reception made her emotional.

Upon Phogat’s arrival in the national capital, following her being 100 grams overweight on the day of her bout earlier this month, there was a substantial security detail in place.

Phogat remained in Paris while she awaited the outcome of her appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport for a joint silver medal, which was ultimately turned down on Wednesday.

Vinesh stood in an open Jeep and expressed her gratitude to all the supporters.
