Jamshedpur, Feb 9: Jharkhand is witnessing a spell of warmer days and chilly nights, according to the latest bulletin issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Ranchi centre.

Chaibasa recorded the highest maximum temperature in the state at 32.4°C, which is 4.7°C above normal, signalling a sharp rise in daytime heat across the Kolhan region.

Jamshedpur followed with a maximum temperature of 30.1°C, while Daltonganj recorded 29.5°C.

The state capital Ranchi remained comparatively cooler during the day, recording a maximum temperature of 24.6°C, which is 1.5°C below normal, IMD data showed.

Night Chill Persists in Many Districts

Despite warmer afternoons, night temperatures continued to dip across most districts. Gumla reported the lowest minimum temperature in Jharkhand at 6.6°C, reflecting lingering winter conditions during early morning hours.

Ranchi recorded a minimum temperature of 9.4°C, while Daltonganj was colder at 7.9°C.
Jamshedpur registered a minimum temperature of 12.6°C.

Data from Automated Weather Stations (AWS) showed maximum temperatures ranging between 25°C and 31°C in most districts, with Seraikela touching 31.0°C.

Minimum temperatures in several areas, including Latehar, Lohardaga, and Bokaro, remained below 9°C.

No Rainfall, Low Visibility in Jamshedpur

No rainfall was recorded anywhere in Jharkhand during the past 24 hours, maintaining dry weather conditions across the state.

Visibility was lowest at Jamshedpur, measured at 2,000 metres, the IMD bulletin noted.

IMD officials said the prevailing weather pattern indicates clear skies and dry conditions, with warm afternoons and cold mornings likely to persist over Jharkhand in the coming days.
