Warring Muslim couple reunites at Lok Adalat after 5 years  in Daltonganj

Daltonganj, July 13: The National Lok Adalat held in Daltonganj civil courts today saw a very rare but precious reunion of a couple.

It was the reunion of a Muslim couple which is a very unheard-of thing here. The Muslim husband and wife have been living apart since 2019.

“Muslim families break faster than a coconut,” said a lawyer here refusing to be identified. Still, no two sides take any interest or show patience and wisdom to get legal relief from the lawyer.

Court’s help in re-starting life after years of marital disputes

The lawyer said it’s a great outbreak of hope for the members of the Muslim community who can seek the court’s help in re-starting life after years of marital disputes and quarrels.

Muslim couples often suffer in their ghetto

Court sources said right from the principal district and sessions judge to the principal judge of the family court and their teams worked hard to bring the warring ‘Miyan Bibi’ together. They did it today with all peace of mind and cordiality and with a tremendous sense of responsibility.

Court sources said Muslim couples hardly reach courts for restitution of their conjugal rights. They suffer in their ghetto.

“For them, speaking out of their marriage going to the rock is seen as an act not approved by the religion,” said the Muslim fraternity.

They languish silently. Their men and women just sigh in silence. The Muslim community and its clerics discourage them from seeking legal recourse to reunion.

Court sources said conservatism and ‘what the community will speak about it’ keep separated Muslim married men and women to suffer the agony alone with a dark future staring at the two.

Case under Section 498A

Court sources said here in this reunion of the Muslim couple the woman who hails from Latehar district had a case against her husband under section 498A.

The woman had also lodged a maintenance case under section 125 CrPC against her husband and was getting 3,000 rupees per month from him for her maintenance.

Now today the Muslim couple stand reunited. They looked at each other with an equal amount of respect and trust. They realised they were both wrong. For them it is their second lease of life said the court sources.

The woman would withdraw her case under section 498 A. As the Muslim couple is reunited the burden of 3,000 rupees per month on the husband for her maintenance is off his shoulders.
