Jamshedpur, August 13: The Sir Jehangir Ghandy Library at XLRI – Xavier School of Management marked National Librarians’ Day 2025 on Tuesday with a celebration that blended tradition with technology, honouring library professionals while unveiling new digital tools for learners.

Director Fr. Sebastian George, SJ; Dean – Administration & Finance Fr. Donald D’Silva, SJ; Dean – Academics Prof. Sanjay Patro; and Finance Area Chair H. K. Pradhan graced the occasion, hosted by Head Librarian D. T. Edwin and his team.

Awards honoured top borrowers, most frequent visitors, leading digital resource users, Library Quiz 2025 champions, and top Coursera learners.

Library staff received special commendations for their dedication.

Fr. George hailed librarians as “custodians of human development.”

Fr.  D’Silva praised their professionalism and service ethos.

Prof. Patro stressed the role of digital resources in closing knowledge gaps, while H K Pradhan highlighted the library’s evolution into a modern research hub.

The celebration paid tribute to Dr. S. R. Ranganathan, father of Library Science in India, reaffirming XLRI’s commitment to fostering knowledge, research, and innovation in library services.
