Jamshedpur, June 22: Ghatshila-based Sona Devi University marked the International Day of Yoga with great enthusiasm by organising a special yoga session under the Yoga Sangam initiative at the Vivekananda Auditorium on Sunday.
The programme witnessed active participation from university officials, faculty members and staff, reflecting a collective commitment to health, wellness and holistic living.
Yoga Session Held Under Expert Guidance
The yoga session was conducted under the guidance of university yoga instructor Komal Sinha.
Registrar Dr. Nit Nayana, along with several assistant professors and employees, participated in the session and performed various yogic exercises aimed at promoting physical fitness and mental well-being.
In recognition of its active participation in the nationwide observance of International Yoga Day, Sona Devi University was awarded a certificate by Union Minister of State Prataprao Jadhav from the Ministry of AYUSH and the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India.
The honour acknowledged the university’s contribution to spreading awareness about the benefits of yoga and encouraging a healthier lifestyle.
Yoga Day Celebrated Across the Country
This year’s International Yoga Day was celebrated across the country on a grand scale, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi leading a mass yoga session in Kolkata.
Educational institutions, government offices and organisations nationwide witnessed large-scale participation as citizens responded to the Prime Minister’s call to embrace yoga as a way of life and contribute towards the vision of a healthier India.
Sona Devi University has been actively promoting wellness education through its School of Yoga and Naturopathy, further strengthening its commitment to holistic health and traditional Indian knowledge systems.
