Jamshedpur, June 6: A potential crime was averted in Jamshedpur after police arrested a 19-year-old youth with a loaded country-made pistol and a live cartridge near Belibodhan Ghat under the Bistupur police station area on Saturday morning.

Police said the arrest was made following a tip-off that an armed youth was roaming in the area and allegedly planning to commit a serious offence. Acting on the information, a special raiding team was formed under the direction of senior police officials.

The team reached the spot around 5:30 am and spotted a suspicious individual who attempted to flee after noticing the police. Following a brief chase, the youth was apprehended.
