Jamshedpur, Sept 29: In a special traffic drive launched ahead of Durga Puja, the city traffic police have cracked down on drunk driving, rash driving, and modified silencers, nabbing as many as 100 offenders over the past two days.
The campaign is being conducted under the directive of SSP Piyush Pandey and led by City SP Kumar Shivashish.
Traffic police collected a total of Rs 2.61 lakh in fines from the violators.

A hefty penalty of Rs 10,000 was imposed on a car driver caught driving under the influence in Bistupur.
Additionally, fines amounting to Rs 20,000 were collected from three offenders in Sakchi and two in Mango.
Several others were fined for using modified silencers and engaging in rash driving.
All the offenders were let off after paying the fines and being issued stern warnings.
City SP Kumar Shivashish said the traffic campaign against drunk and rash driving will continue throughout the Durga Puja festivities.

“Driving under the influence or rashly increases the risk of accidents. We appeal to citizens to celebrate the Puja and fairs responsibly and safely,” he added.
