12-year-old Adhiraj Mitra shines at Jharkhand Chess Festival 2025

Jamshedpur, March 31: Young chess prodigy Adhiraj Mitra delivered a stellar performance at the Jharkhand Chess Festival 2025, clinching both the U-13 and U-15 State Championship titles.

Representing East Singhbhum, the 12-year-old showcased his mastery on the board, outclassing competitors from across the state.

Adhiraj first secured victory in the U-13 category, held from March 26-27, scoring an impressive 5.5 points out of 6 rounds.

He then dominated the U-15 FIDE-rated tournament from March 28-30, achieving a perfect 8 out of 8 points and gaining 27 rating points.

The tournament witnessed fierce competition, with over 50 participants from various districts battling for the top honors. Adhiraj’s exceptional performance has now earned him a spot at the Nationals, a significant milestone in his budding chess career.

As he gears up for the national stage, all eyes will be on this young champion and his promising future in the game.
