Jamshedpur, Dec 11: Preparations are in full swing for the two-day 5th State Level Master Athletic Championship 2025 and the second edition of The Great Jharkhand Run, scheduled for December 13 and 14 at the JRD Sports Complex.

Around 1,200 master athletes from nearly 16 districts are expected to participate this year—an increase from previous editions. A total of 192 events will be conducted over two days.
40 technical officials and 30 volunteers are supporting the event, and accommodation for outstation athletes has been arranged.

Details were shared at a press conference held on Thursday afternoon at the JRD Sports Complex, addressed by Association President Vijay Singh and General Secretary and international athlete Sanjeev Kumar Tomar.
Officials informed that the first day of the championship, December 13, will feature shot put, discus, and javelin throw events. Competitions will be held for seven women’s age groups and 10 men’s age groups at the Archery Complex of the JRD Sports Complex. Events will begin at 9:00 AM, with athletes required to report by 8:30 AM.

The second day will host track and field events including the 100m, 200m, 400m, and 800m races, along with a 3 km walk race for men and a 1 km walk race for women. Long jump and triple jump events for all age groups will also take place.
All Day 2 events will be conducted at the JRD Stadium complex, with the reporting time fixed at 8:00 AM. The official inauguration ceremony is scheduled for 10:30 AM.
The highlight of the second day will be The Great Jharkhand Run, which will flag off at 6:00 AM. Teenagers, youth, and master athletes of both genders will participate across multiple age categories. Participants must report at 5:00 AM. The morning will begin with Zumba warm-up exercises, followed by the commencement of age-group road races.
Cash prizes, medals, and certificates will be awarded to the top three winners, while all participants will receive medals and e-certificates. Drinking water points have been arranged along the route.
The championship will formally open on December 14 in the presence of the chief guest and dignitaries, who will also felicitate the winners. All participating athletes have been provided T-shirts by the organizing committee.

Numbered T-shirts will be distributed on December 12 at the JRD Sports Complex. Athletes who have not yet registered may still do so, with spot entry available.
