Jamshedpur, April 25: In a coordinated anti-narcotics operation, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Government Railway Police (GRP) arrested two alleged traffickers and seized 15 kg of ganja from the Tatanagar railway area on the night of April 24.
Joint Operation Under Heightened Surveillance
The operation was carried out under the direction of senior officials from the Chakradharpur Division and Jamshedpur Rail Police as part of intensified surveillance against drug smuggling through railway networks.

Acting on suspicion, the joint team detained two individuals and recovered the contraband during a thorough search.

Accused Linked to Possible Trafficking Network
The seized ganja is estimated to be worth several lakhs in the illegal market. The arrested individuals have been identified as Upendra Kumar (38) and Vinod Sao (55), both residents of Rajouli in Bihar’s Nawada district.
Preliminary questioning suggests their possible involvement in a larger, organised trafficking network. Authorities said further investigation is underway to establish broader links.
Crackdown Under “Operation Narcos”
The action was conducted as part of the RPF’s ongoing “Operation Narcos,” which aims to dismantle drug supply chains operating through rail routes.
Both accused have been handed over to the Tatanagar Railway Police Station for legal proceedings. Officials said such targeted drives will continue to strengthen security and curb criminal activities across railway zones.
