PINAKI MAJUMDAR

Jamshedpur, February 23: The 2026 municipal elections witnessed steady polling and strong participation from women voters across key urban centres on Sunday morning.

Polling began at 7 am and saw disciplined queues at booths across the region. According to turnout data recorded till 11 am, Mango Municipal Corporation registered 19.5 per cent voter turnout. Jugsalai Municipal Council reported a higher 24.2 per cent participation, while Chakulia Nagar Panchayat led with an impressive 33.8 per cent turnout by late morning.

The steady voter turnout in the Jamshedpur civic polls reflects growing public engagement in local governance and urban development issues.

Strong Women Participation

Women voters turned out in significant numbers during the morning phase, underlining increased female participation in municipal elections. Election officials noted that several polling booths reported a visible rise in women exercising their democratic right.

Peaceful and Well-Coordinated Polling

The municipal elections remained peaceful, with adequate security arrangements in place. Election authorities ensured smooth coordination at all polling stations across Mango, Jugsalai and Chakulia.

Officials expect voter turnout to rise further as the day progresses. Polling will continue until 5 pm.
