Siwan, Oct 17: Siwan SP Amitesh Kumar reported that 20 people died on Thursday after consuming spurious liquor in Siwan.

In a similar incident, Chhapra SP Kumar Ashish stated that four people died in Saran district after consuming spurious liquor. A Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been formed, and an FIR has been filed against eight individuals, with three already arrested.

The District Magistrates and Superintendents of Police from both districts suspect the deaths may be linked to the consumption of illicit liquor. However, they emphasize that the actual cause of death will only be confirmed after the post-mortem and viscera reports.

The local Chowkidar and Panchayat Beat Police officers have been suspended. An explanation has been demanded from the SHO of Masrak Police Station and the Masrak Zone ALTF in charge, regarding departmental action.

According to District Magistrate Mukul Kumar Gupta, legal proceedings are underway against the Bhagwanpur SHO and the Prohibition ASI from Bhagwanpur Police Station.
