New Delhi, August 2: In the past seven months, 27 children have died at Asha Kiran Home in Sector 3, Rohini, New Delhi. In July alone, 13 children passed away. Notably, this home is meant for children with intellectual disabilities.
Documents from the home reveal these deaths, but the administration has remained silent on the issue. According to sources, the deaths are attributed to inadequate care and poor drinking water facilities.
The home is operated by the Delhi government.
Delhi Minister Atishi orders a magisterial inquiry
Reports indicate that Delhi Minister Atishi has ordered a magistrate inquiry into the deaths at Asha Kiran Home.

There have been continuous child fatalities at the home this year: three in January, two in February, three in March, two in April, one in May, three in June, and 13 in July.
According to the Rohini SDM, the reports of deaths at Asha Kiran are true.
NCW takes cognizance of deaths
Asha Kiran Home houses children and adults with intellectual disabilities and mental health issues. The home claims to provide proper care, but there are allegations that the care provided is inadequate and that there is a severe lack of facilities.
Rekha Sharma, Chairperson of the National Commission for Women (NCW), has taken note of the deaths at Asha Kiran Home. She stated that the Commission is sending a fact-finding team to the home, which will meet with all officials deemed responsible for the deaths of mental health patients.
