4th policeman’s body recovered from Dhurwa Dam in Judge’s escort vehicle accident

Jamshedpur, Nov 17: The search operation at Dhurwa Dam ended on a grim note Monday morning with the recovery of the body of the fourth missing policeman, Satyendra Bhardwaj.

He had been untraceable since the horrific accident on November 14, when a police vehicle plunged into the dam during a late-night return from Ranchi.

Hatia DSP P.K. Mishra confirmed the recovery, saying divers spotted Bhardwaj’s body in a separate section of the dam during an early-morning sweep.

Limited visibility at night prevented emergency responders from conducting an effective rescue operation immediately.

The following morning, villagers noticed the submerged vehicle and alerted authorities. A joint team of NDRF, SDRF, and local police then began a massive search. Divers recovered the vehicle first, with the bodies of three policemen — Upendra Kumar Singh, Robin Kujur, and Anil Singh — trapped inside.

Bhardwaj, however, was missing, leading officials to believe he may have tried to escape and been swept away. Continued search efforts over the next two days finally led to his recovery.
