Dhanbad, June 24: A five-day Executive Development Program (EDP) on Mine Safety Auditing and Accident Investigation commenced at IIT (Indian School of Mines), Dhanbad. The program has been specially designed for officers of the Directorate General of Mines Safety (DGMS).

The event was inaugurated by Prof. Sukumar Mishra, Director of IIT (ISM), who served as the chief guest. Present on the occasion were Prof. S.R. Samadder, Associate Dean (Research & Development), Prof. D.P. Mishra from the Department of Mining Engineering, senior officials from DGMS, and distinguished faculty members of IIT (ISM).

Organized by the Department of Mining Engineering, the program is being conducted under the guidance of Prof. R.M. Bhattacharjee, Dean (International Relations and Alumni Affairs), IIT (ISM).

The EDP aims to enhance the participants’ skills in auditing mine safety and health management systems, and in investigating accidents or incidents using root cause analysis techniques.
The course includes interactive sessions, case studies, and field insights to promote a deeper understanding of modern approaches to health and safety in the mining sector.
