Jamshedpur, Oct 29: A total of 72 athletes from Jharkhand will represent India at the Asian Masters Athletics Championship, scheduled to take place from 5 to 9 November 2025 at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Chennai. The event is being organised under the aegis of the Masters Athletics Federation of India (MAFI).
Ahead of the championship, the Jharkhand Masters Athletics Association held a press conference at the JRD Tata Sports Complex on Wednesday, where the selected athletes were felicitated and encouraged for their upcoming participation.
Athletes from 21 Countries to Compete
Officials announced that athletes from 21 countries — including Maldives, Mongolia, Nepal, China, the Philippines, and Thailand — will participate in the event. More than 3,300 sportspersons aged above 35 are expected to compete in various track and field disciplines.

Team Management and Coordination
Vijay Singh will serve as the manager of the Indian team, while S.K. Tomar will head the medical team, assisted by Shyam Sharma and Harvinder Singh.
The Jharkhand contingent will be managed by Dr Habilas Das and Dildar Singh. Notable team members include Amol Kant Mishra, Gursharan Singh, and Pinky Mehta.
Shyam Sharma and Gursharan Singh will act as media coordinators, while Jyoti Gomez has been appointed photography in-charge.
Vijay Singh Felicitated
During the event, Vijay Singh, the newly appointed Vice-President of Asian Masters Athletics, was felicitated by the Jharkhand Masters Athletics Association in recognition of his outstanding contribution to athletics.
Prominent personalities present on the occasion included Vijay Singh, S.K. Tomar, Avtar Singh, and Gursharan Singh, among others.
