Dhanbad, Feb 24: Two railway engineering department staff of Dhanbad Rail Division identified as Mohan Kumar Sharma and Rahul Kumar were crushed to death while repairing the track between Telo and Gomoh stations at the wee hours on Saturday.

Dhanbad Railway Divisional official said that both staff were on patrolling duty and were repairing the track on the down line when a high-speed train ran over them.

The officials of GRP Chandrapura and Telo police station said that the incident occurred at around  4 am. They informed the family members of both the victims about the incident and sent the bodies for post-mortem.

ECRKU leaders extend support to families affected by tragedy

The leaders of  East Central Railway Karmchari Union (ECRKU) who reached the spot after getting information expressed deep shock over the tragedy and assured the victims’ families full help.

ECRKU divisional media in-charge Nil Kamal Khawas said that central leaders of ECRKU  DK Pandey and Md Ziauddin were duly informed about the tragedy in the morning and on his directive  Chandrapura branch organising secretary Arvind Kumar Mahta, Gomoh branch joint secretary Rupesh Kumar along with other office bearers reached the incident spot duly.

“ECRKU Central leader DK Pandey and Md Ziauddin immediately talked with officials of the Divisional Personnel department and assistant engineer to provide help to members of both victims’ families. ECRKU Chandrapura branch secretary Chandan Shukla has also assured to provide help”, said Nil Kamal Khawas, ECRKU media in-charge.
