New Delhi, Feb 26: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of 2,000 railway projects of Indian Railways worth Rs 41,000 crore.
PM inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for the redevelopment of 553 railway stations and over bridges and underpasses worth Rs 1500 crore under Amrit Bharat Yojana.

PM Modi laid the foundation stone for redevelopment of 553 railway stations under the Pradhan Mantri Amrit Bharat Station Scheme through video conference.
These stations, located in 27 states and union territories, will be redeveloped at a cost of more than Rs 19,000 crore.
According to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), these stations will act as city centres by merging the two sides of the city together.
Modern passenger facilities including beautiful landscapes, inter-modal connectivity, children’s play area, kiosk, food court will be available at these stations.

Road overbridges and underpasses are located in 24 states and UTs
These stations will be redeveloped in an environment and disabled-friendly manner. The design of these station buildings will be inspired by local culture, heritage and architecture.
The Prime Minister inaugurated Gomti Nagar station in Uttar Pradesh. It has been redeveloped at a total cost of approximately Rs 385 crore.
The road overbridges and underpasses are located in 24 states and union territories. These projects have been constructed at a cost of approximately Rs 21,520 crore. These projects will reduce congestion, increase safety and connectivity and improve the capacity and efficiency of rail travel.
553 railway stations will be redeveloped in 27 states
Under the Amrit Bharat Yojana, redevelopment of 553 railway stations is being undertaken in 27 states.
Maharashtra has 56, Gujarat has 46, Bihar has 33, Madhya Pradesh has 33, Andhra Pradesh has 46, Tamil Nadu has 34, Chhattisgarh has 21, Odisha has 21, Karnataka has 31, and Rajasthan has 21 railway stations included in this redevelopment plan. Additionally, West Bengal has 17 railway stations included.
83 projects of Jharkhand and 90 projects of Chhattisgarh included
PM inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of over bridge and underpass worth Rs 1500 crore under Amrit Bharat Yojana. This includes 175 projects in Maharashtra, 133 in Madhya Pradesh, 252 in Uttar Pradesh, 128 in Gujarat, 115 in Tamil Nadu, 106 in Rajasthan, 90 in Chhattisgarh and 83 in Jharkhand.
