Jamshedpur, March 2: Governor-cum-Chancellor of Universities CP Radhakrishnan today attended the first convocation of Jamshedpur Women’s University here.

Addressing the maiden convocation function as the chief guest,  the governor said, ” It’s truly a joyous moment as we witness the climax of years of hard work and dedication by the students. First, I extend my heartiest congratulations and best wishes to all the daughters receiving their degrees today. Your achievements symbolize your determination and commitment to excellence. On this joyous occasion, I also extend my congratulations and best wishes to their family members teachers, and everyone associated with the university family.”

The governor went on to say that Jamshedpur Women’s University holds a special place in Kolhan region, vital in promoting women’s education.

Governor highlights university’s journey of excellence and empowerment

“From its beginnings as an intermediate college to its growth into a full-fledged university, Jamshedpur Women’s University has stayed committed to providing quality education and encouraging all-inclusive development. Under the guidance of founder Mrs. Perin C. Mehta, it has changed many lives and contributed to making our society better. In 1962, the great visionary and philanthropist Bharat Ratna J.R.D. Tata gave the College its building with the sprawling grounds in the city’s heart. With the infrastructure in place, the College entered its most healthy development phase, ” he asserted.

The governor explained that the institution’s journey has been marked by excellence, with numerous achievements, including recognition as a “Center with Potential for Excellence and achieving a Grade ‘A’ accreditation from NAAC.”

“Now, the College has been upgraded to the status of a university, making it the first women’s university in Jharkhand. As we progress, all members of our university family must remain committed to providing the best possible education for our girls. Our aim should be to create an environment where the university is recognized in our state and across the country as an ideal centre for girls’ higher education,” he added.

He further said the primary focus at the university is to empower female students.

“We offer various courses that help our students gain the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in today’s world. I also encourage them to participate in sports and cultural activities to grow as individuals and understand their cultural roots,” said the governor.

The governor also inaugurated the Savitribai Phule Central Library and the Swarnarekha Auditorium during his visit to the campus of the university at Sidhgora.
