Hyderabad, March 4: Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) declared Pat Cummins, the prominent Australian fast bowler, as their new captain for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) season during an announcement made on Monday.

Cummins takes over as the team’s captain from South African batsman Aiden Markram. Cummins led the Australians to victory in both the ICC World Test Championship and the ICC Cricket World Cup last year.

Cummins became the second-most expensive player in history when he was acquired by SRH for Rs 20.5 crores at the IPL auctions last year.

SRH made the announcement via X (formerly Twitter).
