THE JHARKHAND STORY DESK

Kolkata, March 8: As part of its investigation into the West Bengal teacher recruitment scam, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) began searching several places in Kolkata and its surrounding areas on Friday morning.

According to officials, a five-person ED team was searching the home of a former para-teacher in the Patharghata Mazar Sharif neighbourhood of New Town adjoining Kolkata. The para-teacher is allegedly a close acquaintance of the jailed former State Education Minister Partha Chatterjee.

Additionally, officials stated that searches were in progress at an accountant’s home in the northern part of the city, in the Nagerbazar area.

At the homes of a few businessmen, teachers, and intermediaries who were allegedly implicated in the scheme, ED searches were carried out in the Rajarhat region.

The current raids are a component of the Enforcement Directorate’s investigation aimed at tracing the movement of funds in the multi-crore scam.

After Trinamool Congress leader Partha Chatterjee who is a former minister of education under Mamata Banerjee cabinet, was arrested on July 23, 2022, the West Bengal School Service Commission teacher recruitment scandal surfaced.
