Chandigarh, March 12: Hours after the BJP-Jannayak Janata Party (JJP) alliance crumbled, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar resigned from his position of Chief Minister.

In the Haryana Assembly, the JJP, led by Deputy Chief Minister Dushyant Chautala, has 10 MLAs.

Manohar Lal Khattar tendered his resignation letter to the Governor of Haryana, Bandaru Dattatreya.

Visuals depicted Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar arriving at Haryana Niwas in Chandigarh on Tuesday, accompanied by several senior MLAs.

Nevertheless, BJP leader Kanwar Pal Gujjar stated that Khattar is anticipated to be sworn in once more as the Chief Minister of Haryana.

“CM and the cabinet ministers have resigned and the governor has accepted the resignations,” prominent BJP leader Kanwar Pal Gujjar stated as he left Raj Bhavan.

Gujjar responded, “The CM will continue to be the CM,” when asked who would be the next chief minister.

In the 90-seat Haryana assembly, the BJP holds 41 seats, the Congress 30, and the JJP 10. Additionally, there are seven Independents, along with one MLA each from the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) and the HLP. To secure a majority and form the government in the state, a party or alliance needs at least 46 seats.

With the support of six independent legislators and one MLA from the Haryana Lokhit Party (HLP), it’s probable that the BJP will establish a new government.
