Jharkhand News: Tata Steel Foundation sets up sanitary pad manufacturing unit

Dhanbad, March 18: Tata Steel Foundation (TSF), to promote hygiene among women in rural pockets of its leasehold area, opened a sanitary pad manufacturing unit at Bhelatand on Monday, around 20 km from Dhanbad district headquarters.

Sunita Rajoria was the chief guest on the occasion and inaugurated the unit.

Mousumi Das, Divya Thakur, Shikha Saha, Preeti Nirwan, Mili Singh, Sonia Aman, and Manpreet Taraporewalla were also present at the event.

An official of Tata Steel Jharia Division TSF said that the manufacturing unit aims to make good-quality sanitary pads under the Brand Name Be Fresh (Soft & Safe) at an affordable rate to boost women’s menstrual hygiene.

Pragati Mahila Udyam

The Sanitary pad enterprise will support the group of 32 women registered under the Udyam initiative of the Government of India in the name of Pragati Mahila Udyam.

Rajoria highly appreciated the efforts taken by Tata Steel Foundation for this innovative and market-driven income enhancement project and said that it will not only help women’s economic independence but also promote menstrual hygiene among them.

She also lauded the support provided by Tata Steel in setting up the unit.

Col. Bhawani Singh Niwan (head of administration), Sanjeev Thakur (head of Sijua Colliery, Jharia Division Tata Steel), and Rajesh Kumar (Tata Steel Foundation) were also present on the occasion.
