Ranchi, Nov 4: The Jharkhand High Court has issued an injunction on the advertisement released by the JPSC (Jharkhand Public Service Commission), which provided priority in the appointment of Assistant Professors (Medical College) to candidates who were previously employed in the Jharkhand Medical Service.

Furthermore, the court has directed that if an applicant fulfils the other eligibility criteria of the appointment process, they should be considered for the appointment.

The JPSC had released advertisement number 06/2022 for the recruitment of 110 Assistant Professors (Medical College) positions.

Prior to this advertisement, the JPSC had issued amended regulations in 2021, stating that candidates previously employed in the state government’s medical service would be given top priority.

Manish Kumar Munda had challenged these regulations in the Jharkhand High Court. Speaking on his behalf, lawyer Amritansh Vats argued that the regulations issued by the JPSC seem to indicate reservation. The conditions outlined in these regulations may prevent candidates who are not currently working in the medical service from being appointed.

The case was heard by a bench headed by Chief Justice Sanjay Kumar Mishra of the Jharkhand High Court. The court has directed the JPSC and the state to respond within six weeks. Lawyer Ashok Kumar Singh represented the JPSC.

Following the court’s intervention, the provision of granting priority to medical service officials in the appointment of Assistant Professors has been suspended for now, although the appointment process will continue.
