Dhanbad, March 21: Jharkhand government-owned Birsa Institute of Technology (BIT) Sindri will provide a platform for non-industrial area employees to get their Ph.D.
BIT Sindri signs MoU with JUT, US university
In this regard, BIT Sindri has signed an MoU with Jharkhand University of Technology (JUT) Ranchi and the University of South Florida, USA.
A senior official of BIT Sindri who provided this information said that JUT Ranchi vice-chancellor Dr Dharmendra Kumar Singh held a marathon meeting with the Deans and heads of departments (HoD) of different faculties to gather feedback and outline the modalities of the platform for industrial employees to complete PhDs from the institution.

BIT Sindri to take a nod from JUT
BIT Sindri will soon apply to Jharkhand University of Technology for approval to conduct a PhD course for industrial employees.
JUT vice-chancellor Dr Singh said that this step had been initiated under the government’s New Education Policy (NEP), under which, besides academics, the employees of industrial areas would be given the opportunity of a PhD.
“Now, industrial area employees, in addition to doing their duty in the office, can also take an online course ( PhD) through SBTEL,” said Dr Singh. The institution’s students (BIT Sindri) will also have an opportunity to access industry labs.
BIT Sindri labs to open for internship
Under this course, BIT Sindri will also provide lab facilities for internships to students of polytechnic colleges and industrial training colleges.
The course could be launched in one and a half months. Before launching, the institution will hold a conference and seminar to raise awareness among concerned persons.
