New Delhi, March 29: Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Friday that agriculture, health and education are three sectors in which technology can play a big role.

During a conversation with Bill Gates, co-founder of Microsoft and associated with various charitable works, PM Modi said that he used to hear about the digital divide in the world and he has decided that he will not let it happen in India.

Will take digital infrastructure to villages: PM

“When I hear about the digital divide in the world, I say that I will not let anything happen in my neighborhood that there is a digital divide. And digital public infrastructure is a very big requirement in itself” PM Modi stated.

“Today, I want to deliver this digital facility to my villages. So, I think they are a very big target group. Women immediately accept new things. This is my experience in my country. What are the things that I will take into technology according to them? So, it is made completely acceptable” he added.

Cervical cancer vaccine

The Prime Minister stated that his government wants to allocate funds for local-level research by scientists to develop a low-cost vaccine for cervical cancer and that his new government will specifically work towards vaccinating all girls.

The Prime Minister said that digital public infrastructure is essential. On this, Gates said that India is progressing in this direction.

PM calls for green metrics in development

Modi commented on climate change, stating that the world needs to change metrics like the use of electricity or steel to define development because these are climate-unfriendly, and instead, terminologies like green GDP and green employment should be adopted. The Prime Minister also said that he is attracted to technology; he is not an expert, but hs the curiosity about it like children.
