Shiv Sena (UBT) retains Sangli seat

The disputed Sangli seat has been retained by the Shiv Sena (UBT). After Uddhav Thackeray went to Sangli and declared Chandrahar Patil’s candidacy, the Congress and Sena were at odds.

The Congress swiftly objected to the ruling, contending that Sangli had long been a stronghold for the party, with two MLAs representing the constituency, compared to none for the Sena. The party then declared Vishal Patil, the grandson of former chief minister Vasantdada Patil, as their nominee.

On the other hand, the Sena argued that it was seeking to obtain at least the Sangli seat in exchange for the Kolhapur and Ramtek Lok Sabha seats, which it already relinquished.
