Kolkata, April 17: For the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections 2024, the Trinamool Congress (TMC) released its manifesto on Wednesday.

One of the 10 promises made, frequently emphasized by party convener Mamata Banerjee, assures that there will be no Citizenship (Amendment) Act, National Register of Citizens (NRC), or Uniform Civil Code (UCC) implemented in West Bengal.

Trinamool leaders stated that the promises would be upheld once the party forms the government at the Center as part of the INDIA bloc. They reiterated Trinamool’s support for the Congress-led alliance at the national level, despite the absence of any formal alliance in West Bengal.

During the manifesto release, TMC stated, “Let’s overthrow the BJP Zamindars and pave the way for a dignified life for all!”

The Trinamool election manifesto outlines 10 key promises aimed at enhancing the lives of citizens across various sectors. These include ensuring increased income for labourers with a guaranteed 100-day work period at a daily wage of ₹400 for job card holders, providing free housing to all impoverished families, and offering ten free gas cylinders annually to BPL households.

Additionally, the manifesto pledges doorstep delivery of ration to all ration card holders, augmenting allowances for SC/ST higher education, introducing an old-age allowance of ₹1,000, and implementing the Swaminathan Commission’s recommendations.

It also promises the establishment of a price stabilization fund for petroleum products, provision of apprenticeships for graduates and diploma holders under 25 years of age, and welfare schemes like Kanyashree for girls nationwide.

Furthermore, the manifesto affirms the repeal of the CAA, halting of the NRC, and rejection of the Uniform Civil Code in the country.
