Pune, April 25: The Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar) released its manifesto on Thursday, advocating for a caste census and pledging to establish a distinct commission for farmers’ welfare, ensuring the right to apprenticeship, and proposing a 50 per cent job reservation for women.

The manifesto was released in the presence of NCP (SP) chief and former Union agriculture minister Sharad Pawar.

The party led by Sharad Pawar declared that it opposes the notion of “one nation, one election” and is in favour of Jammu & Kashmir being granted complete statehood.

According to the manifesto named “Shapatnama”, the NCP (SP) intends to assess and suggest amendments to the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA), National Register of Citizens (NRC), Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), and other legislations that are deemed to be in conflict with fundamental principles of the constitution.

The NCP (SP) expressed its support for the five “nyay” (guarantees) outlined by the Congress in its manifesto, addressing concerns related to farmers, youth, women, labourers, and caste census.

“LPG cylinder prices will be kept at Rs 500 and if necessary, will be subsidised by the government. Petrol, diesel tax will be restructured,” Patil said.
