New Delhi, April 29: Ahead of the Paris Olympics, the Sports Ministry announced on Monday that Deepika Kumari, the former world number one archer, has been re-inducted into the Target Olympic Podium Scheme (TOPS) core group. Kumari won a silver medal at the recently concluded World Cup in Shanghai.
After becoming a mother in December 2022, Deepika missed the full season the previous year. However, she has since returned and is performing well both domestically and internationally.
Recurve archer Deepika Kumari, boasting three Olympic appearances, also earned a medal at this year’s Asia Cup.

Last Olympic qualification in Turkey
As of now, Dhiraj Bommadevara remains the sole qualifier for the Games in the men’s individual event, courtesy of his silver medal at the Asian Qualifying Tournament held in Bangkok last year.
There is just one more qualifying tournament remaining, which is scheduled for June 15 and 16 in Antalya, Turkey.
The sports ministry released a statement announcing the addition of archer Mrinal Chauhan to the TOPS Development group, the moving of Pravin Jadhav from Development to Core group, and the induction of para-powerlifter Ashok into TOPS Core group.
