Ranchi, May 1: In the special court of Ranchi PMLA (Prevention of Money Laundering Act), the bail plea of former Chief Minister of Jharkhand, Hemant Soren, accused in a land scam case, was heard.
During the hearing on Tuesday, there was a debate between Hemant Soren and the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for over an hour. On one hand, the defence presented arguments to grant bail to Hemant Soren, while on the other hand, the ED strongly opposed their arguments.
After hearing the arguments and evidence from both sides, the court reserved its judgment.

Earlier on Monday, the petition Hemant Soren was heard in the Supreme Court. During the hearing, the apex court issued notice to the ED and fixed the date of the following Monday for the next hearing of the case.
The former Chief Minister, currently incarcerated, has knocked on the doors of the trial court for his bail hearing which was scheduled for today.
Former Chief Minister Hemant Soren and Bargain Revenue Sub-Inspector Bhanu Pratap, currently in judicial custody, are being held at the Birsa Munda Central Jail.
Hemant Soren was arrested on the night of January 31 in a money laundering case after resigning from his post. In the same case, Afsar Ali, Antu Tirkey, Priyaranjan Sahay, Bipin Singh and Irshad have also been arrested.
