Sukma, May 9: In the Sukma district of Chhattisgarh, six Naxalites with a total bounty of Rs 36 lakh on their heads surrendered on Thursday, an official stated.

The six were identified by Sukma Superintendent of Police Kiran Chavan as Madkam Sukka alias Rainu, Ayate Korsa alias Jayakka, Kawasi Muda, Karam Naranna alias Bhuma, and Dudhi Pojja and his wife Dudhi Pojje.

“Pojja carried a reward of Rs 8 lakh on his head and was part of the Maoists’ People’s Liberation Guerrilla Army (PLGA) battalion Number 1 and also a People’s Party Committee Member (PPCM). His wife Pojje, with a bounty of Rs 8 lakh on her head, was also a member of PLGA battalion Number 1,” SP Chavan stated.

Naxalites surrender on being influenced by rehabilitation initiative

According to the Superintendent of Police, Jayakka, who held the position of Kistaram area committee commander and was an Area Committee Member (ACM), had a reward of Rs 5 lakh on her head. Additionally, Muda, Bhuma, and Madkam collectively had a bounty of Rs 15 lakh on their heads. The six individuals decided to surrender after being influenced by the district police’s ‘Puna Narkom’ (new dawn) rehabilitation initiative for Naxalites.

“Jayakka, who carried a reward of Rs 5 lakh on her head, was Kistaram area committee commander as well as Area Committee Member (ACM). Muda, Bhuma and Madkam had a cumulative bounty of Rs 15 lakh on their heads. The six surrendered after being impressed by the district police’s ‘Puna Narkom’ (which means new dawn in the local Gondi dialect) rehabilitation drive for Naxalites,” he stated.

He stated that they would receive amenities in accordance with the state government’s policy for surrender and rehabilitation.
