Jamshedpur, May 10: IMD’s Ranchi Meteorological Centre issued an alert of Nor’wester activity in southern and central Jharkhand today.
If the Nor’wester strikes it would be the third one this week. Last evening Nor’wester activity took place at several places including Jamshedpur.
Today’s forecast suggests thunderstorms and lightning accompanied by gusty wind (max wind speed: 50-60 kmph) at isolated places over southern and central parts of the state.
Tomorrow, May 11, thunderstorms and lightning accompanied by gusty wind (max wind speed: 30-40 kmph) are expected at isolated places over the state.

A thunderstorm and lightning alert was also issued for isolated places over the state on May 12.
Satellite pictures suggested that a trough was running from east Assam to north Odisha across Gangetic West Bengal at 0.9 km above the mean sea level.
The Nor’wester activity during the past few days brought respite from scorching conditions. It also brought down the day’s reading below 35 degrees Celsius.
