Dhanbad, May 18: Dhanbad’s octogenarian (above 85 years) and disabled (40%) voters cast their vote at home booth on  Dhanbad Lok Sabha seat.

An election official said that a total of 216  octogenarian and disabled voters were identified in nine blocks of the district, who were unable to move to vote at their respective polling booths. So, the home polling booth facility was restored for them and they cast their vote in a two-day campaign on May 17, 18.

The District election committee had constituted 15 polling teams to conduct voting of octogenarian and disabled persons at their homes.  On the directive of Deputy Commissioner cum Returning Officer  Madhvi Mishra, sector magistrate, micro observer, and polling parties were deployed to carry out voting in all nine blocks in two days.

Among 216 voters, the highest 63 persons belong to Dhanbad Sadar Block followed by Nirsa Block 43, Baghmara, 40, Baliapur 22,  Kaliasol Block 20,  Topchachi 10, east Tundi 10,  Govindpur 4 and Tundi Block 3.

Baghmara, Tundi and East Tundi blocks of Dhanbad district fall in Giridih Lok Sabha constituency.

Lok Sabha polls on Dhanbad and Giridih seats will be held in the 6th phase on May 25 along with Ranchi and Jamshedpur.
