Ranchi, May 18: A day before Prime Minister Narendra Modi campaigns in Jharkhand for the Lok Sabha elections, the State BJP mounted pressure on Rural Development Minister Alamgir Alam to resign, saying the Kejriwal model would not work in Jehangir.

The ED arrested Alamgir Alam on May 16, saying over 32 crores seized from Jehangir Alam’s flat pertained to the minister. He has refused to resign following his arrest. The State Congress president, Rajesh Thakur, has said that the party will not ask him to quit. Presently, he is being interrogated by the ED.

Addressing a press conference, BJP spokesman Pratul Shahdeo said that ED should also investigate the movable and immovable properties and companies of Alamgir Alam’s billionaire brother Jahangir Alam, who has been living in Bangladesh for a long time.

Pratul said that Alamgir Alam’s political rise in the 90s and his brother Jahangir Alam’s story of Bangladesh’s shift during this period and its rise from the ashes to the top require a thorough investigation.

Pratul said that as Alamgir Alam’s stature grew, so did his brother’s financial empire. “Today he is worth billions of rupees and is involved in business related to rice, jute and medicine,” he alleged.

Political jihad

Accusing the ruling JMM-Congress coalition of promoting political jihad, Pratul Shahdeo said that a section of the Muslim community lures innocent tribal girls into a love trap and marries them. “Later, they try to capture power by making them contest for the seats of Mukhiya, Zilla Parishad, Panchayat and Sarpanch reserved for tribals,” he said.

“After that, the role of this tribal woman is reduced and all the work is taken care of by her Muslim husband,” he added.

Political jihad examples

Giving examples of such incidents in Pakur and other districts, he said that Lalu Sheikh, Khayar Sheikh, Mehboob Alam, Azad Mian, Vakil Mansoori, Umed Ali Ansari, Abdus Shamim, Azad Ansari, Sagir Ansari, Mohammad Sheikh, and Hazrat Ali are the ones who lured tribal daughters and married them. “Then they made these wives contest elections at different levels and won in many cases and through them, they captured power by waging political jihad,” he alleged.

Giving examples from other parts of the state, he said that people like Tabarak Ansari, Ikramul Ansari, Moin Ansari, Rabbul Ansari, Shahbuddin Sheikh, Shahjahan Sheikh, Tipu Ansari have also carried out political jihad in other parts of the state.

There is a list of more than 200 people who have captured or tried to capture power through political jihad.

Pratul said that when the BJP government is formed, he will demand a high-level investigation from the Home Ministry into the entire matter to find out whether these tribal daughters are being harassed.
