Dhanbad, May 28: The Jamadoba unit of the RISHTA Project organised awareness sessions at the Tata Steel Foundation Jamadoba office and the Malkera Community Centre to observe Menstrual Hygiene Day.
Dr Neelam Tirkey, senior registrar of TMH Jamadoba, inaugurated the session at the Jamadoba unit. On the occasion, senior officers of Tata Steel Foundation (TSF) and the RISHTA team were also present.
Informative session on menstrual hygiene
Dr Neelam Tirkey conducted an informative session on menstrual hygiene, which was attended by 30 adolescent girls. The session provided essential information and practical tips to help the girls manage their menstrual health effectively.
These sessions were aimed to educate adolescent girls about menstrual hygiene and dispel common myths associated with menstruation.

Simultaneously, at Malkera Community Centre Dr Shika, medical officer, of Community Health Centre Baghmara inaugurated the session.
Dr Rockey Kumar, junior registrar TMH Jamadoba, Piyush Kumar, senior area manager HRBP Sijua Group Tata Steel, Bipin Singh Choudhary, manager of community development, and the RISHTA team were also present.
This session, attended by 55 adolescent girls, also focused on raising awareness about menstrual hygiene. The Self-Help Group (SGH) played a significant role in this event, sharing their experiences and knowledge about their pad-making startup with affordable prices for easy access to rural users. This segment was particularly beneficial, encouraging the girls to consider sustainable practices and entrepreneurial opportunities in menstrual health management.
An official said the RISHTA Project’s commitment to educating young girls and promoting menstrual hygiene was evident in the successful execution of these events.
The involvement of health professionals and community leaders in these sessions underscores the importance of collaborative efforts in addressing health issues. The RISHTA Project is dedicated to continuing initiatives to empower individuals and improve community health.
