Srinagar, June 17: Officials reported that a terrorist was killed on Monday during an encounter with security forces in the Bandipora district of Jammu & Kashmir.
Following information regarding the presence of terrorists in the Aragam area of the district on Sunday night, security personnel started a cordon and search operation, resulting in the gunfight, they stated.
The Srinagar-based Chinar Corps of the army reported that one terrorist has been eliminated. The operation was ongoing at the time of the latest updates.

“Based on specific intelligence input regarding presence of terrorists, a joint operation was launched by the Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police on the intervening night of June 16-17 in the general area of Gurihajin, Aragam Bandipora; one terrorist eliminated, operation in progress,” the Chinar Corps stated in a post on X.

According to officials, the exchange of gunfire began when terrorists opened fire on security personnel. They added that the identity of the deceased terrorist has not yet been determined.
