Patna, July 27: Officials reported that Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar did not attend the NITI Aayog meeting in New Delhi on Saturday.
The reason for Kumar’s absence from the critical meeting was not immediately clear.
Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha represented Bihar at the meeting, officials stated.

Meeting to discuss ‘Vikshit Bharat@2047’ document
The ninth governing council meeting of the Aayog will cover the ‘Vikshit Bharat@2047’ document, which aims to advance India to developed nation status.
The council, which is the top governing body of NITI Aayog, consists of all Chief Ministers, Lt Governors of Union territories, and several Union ministers. Prime Minister Modi serves as the chairman of Niti Aayog.
JD(U) spokesperson clarifies Nitish’s absence
JD(U) spokesperson Neeraj Kumar said that this isn’t the first instance of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar missing a NITI Aayog meeting. He pointed out that on earlier also, the Chief Minister was absent and the state was represented by the then Deputy Chief Minister. Similarly, both current Deputy Chief Ministers attended the meeting this time.
Neeraj Kumar also mentioned that there are four Union ministers from Bihar who are members of the NITI Aayog and would be present at the meeting.
