Jamshedpur, July 30: Several isolated places in western, southern and central Jharkhand are expected to experience heavy showers today, according to a bulletin issued by IMD’s Ranchi Meteorological Centre.

Weathermen also did not rule out the possibility of thunderstorms and lightning at a few places.

Today’s satellite pictures suggested that a cyclonic circulation over north Chhattisgarh was lying over southeastern Madhya Pradesh and neighbourhood extending up to 7.6 km above mean sea level tilting southwards with height.

The monsoon trough at mean sea level was today passing through Bikaner, Ajmer, Guna, Raisen, Mandla, Pendra Road, Contai and thence southeastwards to east central Bay of Bengal extending up to 1.5 km above mean sea level.

Light to moderate rain with thunderstorms was observed at many places over the state during the past 24 hours.

Monsoon activity was weak over the state. Statistics suggested that Jharkhand was currently facing a rain deficit of 43 per cent.

Still none of the 24 districts could achieve surplus rain due to deficient rain.
