Dhanbad, August 1: The Hazaribagh District Chess Association, while blaming state body All Jharkhand Chess Association (AJCA), today refused to host the All-India FIDE rating chess tournament scheduled to be held from August 17 to 20.
Non-cooperation of the state body
Hazaribagh District Chess Association president Vijay Kumar Singh, (who is also vice-president of AJCA) today said that due to the non-cooperation of the state body, the district body has been compelled to cancel the All-India FIDE rating tournament.
Didn’t get Event Code from AICA
“The AJCA gave us no support even in getting the Event Code from All India Chess Association till today. So, we are not able to arrange the tournament as per our standard in such a short period. State bodies made us helpless. So, we cancelled it with a heavy heart,” said Vijay Kumar Singh.
The Hazaribagh DCA president said that he had been in Europe and returned recently. “State body officials did not cooperate with the district secretary in arranging the tournament in which Rs 15 lakh was expected to be incurred. When I returned, State Secretary Manish Kumar and other officials did not receive my call forcing me to cancel it,” he added.

Singh said he wanted to prepare IM and GM but leg pulling politics of some officials got chess down in Jharkhand.
He said his letter in the group is not an ordinary letter albeit it is a paper bomb to wake up officials.
Hazaribagh president to face music
In the meantime, AJCA secretary Manish Kumar said that Vijay Kumar Singh will be slapped with a show cause notice for blaming the state body. “He would be asked either to give proof of non-cooperation or face action for defaming the association,” he added.
“Everything runs under some rules. As per the rules, the host district has to apply 45 days (7 working days) earlier to organize the All-India tournament. Hazaribagh district applied merely 20 days ago from the match date. In such condition Event Code can’t be given by all Indian bodies,” said Manish Kumar, who is joint secretary of the national body also.
He said Vijay Kumar Singh did not follow the rules. He blamed the AJCA and posted it in the group which violation of the code of conduct and invites action.
