SUBHASH MISHRA

Dhanbad, Aug 23: The official merger of the Marxists Co-ordination Committee (MCC) and the Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) (CPIML) will take place on September 9 at a rally at Golf Ground in Dhanbad.

Former Nirsa MLA and senior MCC leader Arup Chatterjee announced the event during a meeting at the MCC office in Nirsa. He stated that over 50,000 workers from both organizations are expected to attend this historic unification.

A step in countering communal forces: Chatterjee

Chatterjee described the merger as a significant moment for the Communist movement in India, highlighting that the Communist Party, established in 1925, has faced continuous division since 1963. He emphasized that this merger represents a crucial step in countering communal forces and the rising power of capitalism.

“The Communist Party was formed in India in 1925 but after 1963 it faced division continuously. This is a historical moment for Communists in India that two left organizations are merging,” said Arup Chatterjee, MCC central committee general secretary.

Three-time Nirsa MLA Arup Chatterjee said unification of MCC and CPIML has become a demand of the hour to check communal forces and growing capitalist power. “MCC and CPIML have started the process for checking them in the country. This has triggered discussion among political circles not only in Jharkhand albeit in the whole country”, said Chatterjee.

Dhanbad is a stronghold of MCC

Dhanbad, a stronghold of the MCC, has historically been represented by key figures including founder AK Roy and former MLAs Gurudas Chatterjee and Anand Mahto.

The unification of MCC and CPIML is seen as a strategic move to address current political challenges, garnering attention not only in Jharkhand but across the country.

The event was chaired by Yogendra Kumar, with addresses from Santu Chatterjee, Mumtaj Ansari, Manoranjan Mallick, and Badal Chandra Bauri.
