Jamshedpur, Aug 26:  The 15-member Indian Navy team which was searching for the sunken Cessna 152 in the sprawling Chandil dam since August 22 finally succeeded in tracing the location of the aircraft.

The team has already retrieved a three-feet-long part of the aircraft from the water body and it is trying to recover the crashed plane by using hot air balloon.

In fact, the Navy team had successfully traced the sunken aircraft on Sunday evening itself, but today they have retrieved the aircraft’s part from deep water before resorting to use other techniques for its recovery.

Trainee aircraft crashed on Aug 20 killing two aboard

It may be mentioned here that the Cessna 152 which is a trainee aircraft had crashed in the Chandil dam 15 minutes after it took off from the Sonari aerodrome on August 20 forenoon.

A 19-year-old trainee pilot, Subhrojeet Dutta and 30-year-old pilot-cum-instructor Jeet Satru Anand who were aboard the aircraft were killed in the plane crash.

The bodies of both Subhrojeet and Anand were recovered by the concerted efforts by the teams of NDRF and Navy back to back on August 22. Later the team of the Indian Navy started the search operation to trace the sunken aircraft.

The sunken aircraft belongs to Alchemist Aviation which provides an opportunity for flight training by operating from the Sonari aerodrome.
