Ranchi, August 30: The Resident Doctors Association (RDA) of Central Institute of Psychiatry (CIP) Ranchi has voiced deep concern over the physical assault of MBBS students and doctors at Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) by home guards. They have expressed solidarity with the JDA RIMS in their demand for improved safety measures.
RDA-CIP President Dr. Arya Sunder Kamila and General Secretary Dr. Jammula Kundan Shivaji, in a press release, emphasized the importance of doctors’ safety for maintaining the sustainability and efficiency of healthcare services.
They noted that, despite working under high-pressure conditions and enduring long hours of emotional strain, the risk of violence and the need for robust security protocols and mental well-being remain significant concerns.

Call for unified support
The RDA-CIP believes that collective action within the medical community can address the issue of physical assaults more effectively.
They have called on all doctors to unite in support of the RIMS Junior Doctors Association following the incident on August 27, to better navigate the situation and advocate for enhanced security.
“We believe that coming together as community can help address this issue (physical assault of MBBS students) more effectively. So, we request all doctors come together in support of RIMS Junior Doctors Association in the wake of the August 27 evening incident to navigates this situation”, said RDA- CIP.
The support letter has been signed by RDA-CIP Vice-President Dr. Maupali Khan, Joint Secretary Dr. Megha Yadav, Dr. Palak Sharma, Treasurer Dr. Satwik Rao, Grievances Redressal Secretary Dr. Sudhakar, Media Secretary Dr. Avinash Vipin, and Dr. Vidhit Baswani.
