Jharkhand Weather: Heavy rain likely in western parts in next 24 hours

Jamshedpur, Sept 6:  A few isolated areas in western Jharkhand are expected to experience heavy showers in another 24 hours or so due to the impact of a low pressure over the Bay of Bengal.

IMD’s Ranchi Meteorological Centre issued heavy rain forecast in western and south-western Jharkhand between September 7 and 9 (Saturday to Monday).

According to weathermen, under the influence of a cyclonic circulation over coastal Andhra Pradesh and adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal, a low-pressure area has formed over west central and adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal off north Andhra Pradesh-south Odisha coasts and associated cyclonic circulation extending upto 7.6 Km above mean sea level.

It is likely to move slowly northwards during the next 24 hours.

The monsoon trough at mean sea level was today passing through Suratgarh, Rohtak, Orai, Mandla, to the centre of above low-pressure area over west central and adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal off north Andhra Pradesh-south Odisha coasts and thence southeastwards to east-central Bay of Bengal.

An east-west trough runs from the cyclonic circulation over northwest Uttar Pradesh and adjoining Haryana to Manipur across East Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal at 0.9 Km above mean sea level.

Monsoon activity was normal over the state during the past 24 hours.

The highest rainfall of 84.4 mm was recorded at Godda block.

The highest maximum temperature of 38.1°C was recorded at Seraikela yesterday while the lowest minimum temperature of 23.8°C was recorded at Ranchi.

Weathermen said no significant changes would take place in maximum reading in the next two days.

Data revealed that till yesterday ( Thursday) Jharkhand was facing a rain deficit of 13 per cent.
