  1. JMM MLA Kalpana Soren initiated efforts to restart the closed Open Cast Project (OCP) in Giridih, which had been stalled due to forest department objections since January 2022. Under her leadership, a positive meeting addressed regulatory hurdles.
  2. Patratu Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited (PVUNL) will commission its first 800 MW unit in December 2024. The announcement was made during a press meeting and highlighted PVUNL’s operations, CSR initiatives, and local development activities.
  3. Union Coal Minister of State, Satishchandra Dubey criticises Jharkhand’s Government for failing to address severe electricity shortages despite the state’s coal supply.
  4. Union Coal Minister of State, Satish Chandra Dubey inspected underground fires at BCCL’s Bansjora and announced that the rehabilitation process will be completed within 6 months.
  5. Coal India Chairman PM Prasad inspected NTST No. 9 siding in Lodna. He inaugurated a new crusher machine, inspected the Jeenagora project and instructed officials to increase coal dispatch.
  6. Truck owners ended their 8-day protest after a positive tripartite meeting with the General Manager of CCL Amrapali Project, Amresh Kumar Singh. Truck coal lifting will resume from today, and demands for fare increases were addressed.
  7. Displaced and affected families from Talsa (Sundargarh Area) held a meeting led by Durga Charan Murmu. They demanded immediate compensation and jobs from UCIL and are also planning an indefinite shutdown of Talsa Tailing Pond from 23rd September.
  8. Jharkhand Water Resources Minister Ramdas Soren visited Musabani, inaugurated a JMM branch office and announced the reopening of Surda Mines.
  9. Despite assurances 69 years ago, displaced families from the Masanjor Dam at Dumka have not received full compensation or benefits.
  10. Hindalco Industries Limited distributed fish fingerlings to 50 progressive farmers in several villages to promote fish farming for economic upliftment and sustainable livelihoods.
  11. Workers of Tulsidamar Dolomite Mine, under the leadership of Sushil Choubey, decided to protest on 23rd Sept, if no action is taken on their demands. They demanded the SAIL management to surrender the mines as the quality of the stone of the mine is not good for steel.
