SUMAN K SHRIVASTAVA

Ranchi, September 20: Union Home Minister Amit Shah today promised to give health insurance cover of Rs 10 lakh to 75 plus senior citizens in the run-up to the assembly elections in Jharkhand.

He also promised roads and hospitals in Santhal Pargana.

Notably, the Modi government has already decided to give health insurance coverage to all senior citizens above 70 years.

Launching the BJP poll campaign, namely ‘Parivartan yatra’ from Sahibganj in the Santhal Pargana to regain power in Jharkhand during the forthcoming assembly elections, Shah raised mainly the issues of Bangladeshis’ infiltration, unemployment, corruption and broken promises of Hemant Soren. These issues will set the narrative for the BJP campaign in the assembly elections.

Bangladeshis and Rohingyas vote bank

Making a scathing attack on the JMM-Congress government, Shah said the ruling parties use the Bangladeshis and Rohingyas as their vote bank.  “So, they will never throw them out. It is the BJP which will identify and throw them out,” he maintained.

He said that these infiltrators have abused the tribal girls and women and usurped their land. “Now, the Adivasis have been reduced to a minority in their own land. Let the BJP government come. In Ghushpaithioyon ko ulta latka kar seedha kar denge (We will straighten them by hanging them upside down,” he promised.

Broken promises of Hemant Soren

Shah then criticized the Hemant Soren government for not fulfilling his electoral promises of giving 5 lakh jobs every year, a widow pension of Rs 2,500, gold coins to newly wedded girls and unemployment allowance among others. He asked the cheering crowd whether they got these things. The crowd responded to Shah’s query with a big No.

Shah promises tough action in paper leaks

The BJP leader then shifted his focus to the issue of paper leaks, saying every examination conducted by the JSSC and the JPSC has been marred by this problem.

He again prescribed ‘ulta latka kar seedha kar denge’ punishment for those who are involved in this malpractice.

Referring to the death of over a dozen excise constable aspirants, the home minister said, on the one hand, the Hemant Soren government did not give jobs all these years, but youths were killed in the name of physical test on the other hand (yuvaon ko daura kar mar diya).

Corruption cases in Jharkhand

Shah recounted the ongoing corruption cases in Jharkhand. “Rs 1000 crore MNREGA scam, Rs 600 crore land scam, Rs 1000 crore mining scam, Rs 40 crore liquor scam,” he pointed out, adding they also devoured army land.
