New Delhi, Sept 26: In a money laundering case tied to the cash-for-jobs scam, the Supreme Court on Thursday granted bail to former Tamil Nadu minister V Senthil Balaji.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) arrested Balaji on June 14 of last year and has remained in judicial custody ever since.

Noting that there has been a delay in the trial, a bench comprising Justice Abhay Oka and Justice Augustine George Masih granted bail to Balaji.

On February 28, the Madras High Court rejected Senthil Balaji’s bail petition in a money laundering case filed by the Enforcement Directorate.

Balaji was arrested by ED on June 14, 2023. He is facing charges in a money laundering case linked to a cash-for-job scam investigated by the Directorate of Enforcement (ED). The Cash-for-Jobs scam, according to ED, took place when he served as the Transport Minister under the previous AIADMK government.
