Jharkhand Weather:  Gusty wind and heavy rain forecast in isolated places today

Jamshedpur, Oct 25: Cyclone Dana has made landfall on the Odisha coast past midnight leading to heavy rain and strong winds in several areas in that state.

The storm made landfall between Bhitarkanika in the Kendrapara district and Dhamra in Bhadrak, with a wind speed of around 110 Kmph.

The impact of the cyclone was felt in Jharkhand especially the southern parts comprising three districts – East Singhbhum, West Singhbhum and Seraikela- Kharsawan of Kolhan.

Several places, including Jamshedpur, experienced intermittent rains since late evening of Thursday.

The IMD forecast had predicted heavy rain in the southeastern region on Thursday and Friday.

But, none of the places experienced heavy rain except for overcast conditions, drizzling rain and gusty wind.

As a precautionary measure schools in Jamshedpur remained closed today. The local administration of Kolhan was put on high alert.

Announcements were made through the public address system asking people not to panic and follow the Do’s and Don’ts.

According to a weather bulletin issued by IMD’s Ranchi Meteorological Centre, heavy rainfall is likely to occur at isolated places over south-western and adjoining central and north-eastern parts today.

Surface wind (40-50 Kmph) gusting to 60 Kmph is likely at isolated places over southern parts of the state till the evening of  October 26, Saturday.
