Dhanbad, Nov 1: Three candidates withdrew from the assembly election race in two constituencies in Dhanbad district on Friday.

Deputy Commissioner cum District Electoral Officer Madhvi Mishra informed the media on Friday evening that, on the final day for withdrawal of nominations, three candidates opted out. Dinesh Kumar Mahto and Hiramani Nayak withdrew from the Tundi assembly seat, while Md Saddam Hussain withdrew his nomination from the Jharia assembly seat.

Following these withdrawals, a total of 80 candidates remain across six assembly seats in Dhanbad district. According to the district electoral office, there are nine candidates each in Nirsa and Sindri, 18 in Dhanbad Sadar, 11 in Jharia, 20 in Tundi, and 13 in Baghmara.

“Double ballot papers will be used in the Dhanbad Sadar and Tundi seats, while single ballot papers will be used in Nirsa, Jharia, Sindri, and Baghmara,” stated the district electoral officer.

The elections in Dhanbad district are scheduled in the second phase of polling on November 20.
