Jamshedpur, Nov 26: A team of police officials from Jamshedpur on Saturday arrested a notorious thief by raiding a place at Khidirpur in West Bengal, thus solving a theft case registered with the Jugsalai Thana on November 20.
Committed theft worth over Rs Five lakh
Identified as Jaffar Immam (23) is a resident of Panchhi Mohalla in Jugsalai and had fled the steel city having committed theft worth over Rs Five lakh, including cash from a house located on Ramtekri Road in Jugsalai on the night of November 19.
In this connection, the police had registered a case against unknown thieves on the FIR lodged by Anil Agarwal, leading the police to investigate the case.
Jaffar Immam, also notoriously known as Pakitmar had stollen Rs one lakh cash and gold ornaments worth over Rs four lakhs by breaking open the door of the complainant’s house on the night of Monday last when there was no one there.
Thief’s Mother arrested for keeping stolen items
Revealing about the breakthrough, Senior SP, Kishore Kaushal said that while arresting Jaffar, the police recovered Rs 29,990 from his possession in Khidirpur itself.
“Later on being interrogated, Jaffar divulged that he had given the stolen gold ornaments to his mother Naima Khatoon. On the information, the police raided the house of the accused and recovered all the stolen ornaments from the possession of Naima Khatoon, ” said Kaushal while talking to the newsmen at the Jugsalai thana on Sunday morning.
The senior police officer stated that Jaffar’s mother was also arrested for committing the crime of keeping the stolen ornaments.
